L'Orphelinat
En 1989, Qodrat, orphelin de 15 ans, vend illégalement des porte-clefs et des tickets de cinéma dans les rues de Kaboul. Grand fan de Bollywood, il s'imagine dans des séquences issues de ses films préférés. Dans ces moments-là, il se voit dansant, chantant ou même se battre brillamment contre les oppresseurs. Un jour, il est arrêté par des agents de police qui le placent dans un orphelinat soviétique. Là, Qodrat tente de se faire une place. Mais un jour, les troupes russes se retirent, la guerre entre les moudjahidines et les communistes afghans commence. Qodrat et les autres enfants de l'institution se mettent alors en tête de défendre leur foyer...
